MOVEMENT AWARENESS

Taira Restar offers classes, workshops, and private sessions in Movement Awareness.

Movement Awareness includes observing and exploring our selves through sensing and moving. We pay attention to and explore our outer senses, such as hearing, sight, touch, and smell, as well as our inner kinesthetic sense. We engage in natural body movements.  

Movement Awareness is designed to be gentle, relaxing, and enjoyable. Participants are told what to do, but not how to do it. Thus, any body can take part. Movement Awareness may conclude with open-ended movement exploration in which participants may move in any way that feels nurturing and/or creative.

Movement Awareness is based on Movement Ritual. Anna Halprin has certified Taira to teach Movement Ritual. Movement Awareness also draws from Sensory Awareness, as learned from Charlotte Selver and Charles Brooks, and on Taira’s own lived understanding of the human body. Taira creates a safe container and welcomes all ages and movement abilities.
