Five Facets of Taira's Work
Tamalpa Life/Art Process®: An integrative arts practice that has influenced the fields of business, education, the arts, health, and psychology. The Tamalpa Life/Art Process® combines movement, improvisational dance, visual arts, writing, and reflection. Participants explore the relationship between the physical, emotional, and mental levels of experience, as well as the relationship between self and other, body and mind, life and art. The Tamalpa Life/Art Process®, initiated by Anna Halprin and Daria Halprin and developed at the Tamalpa Institute, is based on the premise that creativity is intrinsic to all life. The Tamalpa Life/Art Process® invites us to live life as an art. More.
Creative Dance and Improvisation: Based on a deep respect for play and the creativity of the moment, Taira guides participants into finding their own unique solo and group dances. Feelings, sensations, body movements, thoughts, and the imagination are the basis for exploration and artistic expression. Creative Dance and Improvisation invite us to open up to dynamic creativity and to say "yes" to the moment! More.
Movement Awareness:
Natural non-stylized movement and
inner and outer senses are explored to develop awareness
and embodied understanding of movement. Activities include
observation of and engagement with breath, experiencing body
movements and movement principles, exploring inner and
outer senses. Movement Awareness invites us to live life more
mindfully. More.
Embodied Spirituality: Workshops and private sessions include tapping into your Source through breath and sensory awareness, improvisational dance, moving meditation, contemplation and reflection, guided visualizations, visual art making, poetry, ritual, and/or being in and as nature. Embodied Spirituality invites us to step into inspiration, loving and peace as actions, mindfulness, and wisdom for daily life. More.
Visual Arts: Include drawing, painting, collage, mixed media, shrine making, mask making, and/or printmaking. Sessions consist of visual art techniques and first-hand experience with fine art, recycled, and found materials. Beginners and professionals enjoy Taira's unique approach, which often includes physical warm-ups and reflections on life. More.
